Modoc Advances in ITA Singles Consolation Bracket

FRESNO, Calif. --- The Fresno State women's tennis team completed day two of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships on Saturday in Stanford, Calif. Senior Bianca Modoc picked up a win in the consolation singles bracket as well as a doubles win with partner Melissa McQueen.

In the consolation singles, Modoc defeated Sacramento State's Saskia Angerer 6-0, 7-5 and advances to take on UC Davis Nicole Koehly in the next round. USF's Marina Nikolic topped Anne Susdorf 6-4, 6-2. Susdorf will face Stanford's Lindsey Kostas on Sunday.

Senior McQueen competed in the main bracket and round of 32, but fell to fierce competition in Cal's Zsofia Susanyi, who is ranked fifth in the country, 6-1, 6-3. McQueen will move to play in the consolation bracket and will face UW's Natali Coronel Sunday.

In the doubles consolation bracket, McQueen and Modoc rolled over Santa Clara's Skaras and Wolny 8-2 to advance to the next round. They will face Pacific's Ferrari and Suarez on Sunday.
