Match Moved to Thursday; TCU Hosts North Texas

FORT WORTH – TCU’s women’s tennis team looks to get back on track Thursday when it hosts in-state foe North Texas for a 2 p.m., matchup at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
The match was originally slated for Wednesday afternoon, but was moved to Thursday with temperatures in the Fort Worth area expected to drop Wednesday. The match will still be played outdoors on the Bartzen Varsity Courts.
No. 47 TCU (3-1) is coming off its first loss of the season, a 6-1 decision at No. 5 Baylor. In home matches, the Horned Frogs are 3-0. North Texas is 3-3 this season and coming off a 4-3 win over No. 53 Kansas State last Saturday.
Thursday’s match will be the 33rd all-time between TCU and its rival from Denton. The Frogs hold a 32-0 edge in the all-time series and won the last meeting between the two schools, 6-1, on Feb. 13, 2008.
TCU’s Millie Nichols and Olivia Smith make up the No. 31-ranked doubles team in the nation and are 2-1 this season. Federica Denti and Kelsey Sundaram are ranked No. 57 and hold a 3-1 record, including a 3-0 mark at No. 2 doubles.
In singles, Gaby Mastromarino is 3-0 this spring and Sundaram is 2-0. Smith is ranked No. 114 in the ITA singles rankings has a 3-1 mark.
