Horned Frogs Travel to No. 32 Oklahoma

Feb. 17, 2012

FORT WORTH – TCU’s women’s tennis team looks to get back on track Sunday when it travels to No. 32 Oklahoma for a 12 p.m., matchup.

The match between No. 47 TCU (3-2) and the Sooners (4-4) is the second of the year for the Frogs against a future Big 12 opponent. TCU dropped a 6-1 decision to Baylor on Feb. 1. TCU, which has dropped two in a row, returns home for four-straight matches after Sunday.

TCU leads the all-time series with OU, 18-12, despite dropping a close 5-2 match with the Sooners a year ago in Fort Worth. Before that, the Frogs had won four-straight in the series between the two schools.

In singles this season, Federica Denti, Gaby Mastromarino and Simona Parajova each hold 3-1 records for the Frogs. Including the fall season, Parajova, a freshman, is 11-4 since joining TCU. In dual matches overall this season, TCU is 19-11 in singles.

For doubles play, Denti and Kelsey Sundaram hold a 3-2 mark in the spring, while Mastromarino and Parajova are 1-0 together as partners. Mastromarino made her doubles debut for the spring against North Texas and made an immediate impact.

The Sooners are led in doubles by the No. 30 duo in the country, Marie-Pier Huet and Whitney Ritchie. Huet and Ritchie also play No. 1 and 2 singles for OU, respectively. Live scoring and video for Sunday’s match will be available at SoonerSports.com.
