Homestand Continues as TCU Hosts Princeton
March 2, 2012
FORT WORTH – TCU’s women’s tennis team plays its third home match in six days Saturday when Princeton visits the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center for a noon matchup.
The 49th-ranked Horned Frogs are 5-3 this spring after a 6-1 win over UT Arlington on Wednesday. TCU is 4-2 in matches at the Friedman Tennis Center. No. 50 Princeton is 5-5 and comes to Fort Worth looking to snap a four-match losing streak.
TCU won the only meeting between the two schools, a 7-2 triumph, on June 3, 1980. The Frogs are 3-2 all-time against opponents from the Ivy League. Saturday’s match marks the third time this season, including the Syracuse and Baylor matches, that TCU squares off with a fellow private institution.
For doubles play, senior Gaby Mastromarino and freshman Simona Parajova have been solid for the Frogs since joining as partners for the first time against Oklahoma on Feb. 19. The tandem is 4-0 from the No. 3 spot.
Federica Denti has been the top performer for TCU in singles action, tallying a 5-1 mark this spring. She missed matches against North Texas and Oklahoma due to injury, but returned to win both of her matches this week.
Lindsay Graff leads the Tigers in singles action and is ranked No. 116 in this week’s Campbell’s/ITA College Tennis Rankings. She and Hilary Bartlett make up the nation’s No. 37-ranked doubles tandem.
Free pizza will be served to all fans in attendance at Saturday’s match with the Tigers.
