No. 56 Women's Tennis To Welcome Sacramento State Thursday

The 56th-ranked San Diego State women's tennis team will play host to Sacramento State on Thursday, March 28 at Aztec Tennis Center. First serve is set for 2 pm PT.
The Hornets are 7-10 on the season, most recently falling to Pepperdine, 6-1, on Tuesday. SDSU is 9-4 on the season, most recently having a perfect week against Pepperdine, 5-2, and Dartmouth, 5-2.
Scouting the Hornets
Sacramento State is coming off a 6-1 loss at Pepperdine on Tuesday. The Hornets took the doubles point but were subsequently swept in singles play as they dropped the match.
The common opponents between San Diego State and Sacramento State, in addition to Pepperdine, are No. 43 Saint Mary's and No. 13 California. Both teams fell to the ranked California squad but the Aztecs were able to pull off a win against a then-ranked No. 40 Saint Mary's, 4-3, on Feb. 3. The Hornets were unable to match SDSU's success, falling to the Gaels, 7-0, on March 8.
Head coach Dima Hyrnashka is in his seventh year at the forefront of Sacramento State's women's tennis team. In his six complete years, Hrynashka is a four-time Big Sky Conference Coach of the Year recipient and has led the Hornets to a Big Sky regular season championship, a Big Sky Tournament title and a NCAA Tournament appearance in each of his six seasons.
In The Polls
SDSU currently sits at No. 56 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division I National Team Rankings. The Aztecs are up one spot from last week's 57th ranking. This week marks the fifth consecutive week that SDSU has made an appearance in the poll since making its debut the week of February 26.
