SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's tennis team will face UC San Diego shortly after celebrating Senior Day at 2 pm PT at Aztec Tennis Center on Tuesday. SDSU will also put its nine-match win streak on the line as it faces the Tritons.
UC San Diego is coming off a 8-1 win over Cal State Stanislaus on April 14, with the only match dropped by the Tritons came in first singles. SDSU owns the series record against the Tritons, 4-0. The last time the two San Diego schools met came on April 26, 2010. In that match, the Aztecs swept UCSD, 7-0, for the final match of the 2009-10 season for SDSU.
San Diego State will enter Tuesday's match after going 2-0 over the weekend in Las Vegas. The two wins in Sin City add to the Aztecs perfect 5-0 Mountain West record, helping the team hold tight to first place in conference standings. SDSU posted identical 4-3 scores over No. 55 Fresno State and Nevada on Saturday and Sunday. Overall, San Diego State owns a 16-4 record and has not lost a match in the past nine outings, dating back to March 17 when the Aztecs fell to No. 15 California. All four on SDSU's losses have come at the hands of top-50 ranked teams.
After Tuesday's senior celebration, SDSU will conclude league play when it will travel to Fort Collins, Colo. to take on Colorado State, Wyoming and Air Force on consecutive days, beginning on April 18.
