Three Teams to Represent Mountain West in 2013 NCAA Men's and Women's Tennis Championships

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The men's tennis team from Boise State and the women's tennis teams from San Diego State and UNLV will represent the Mountain West in the 2013 NCAA Men's and Women's Tennis Team Championships.

The Broncos and Rebels earned the Conference's automatic bids by winning their respective titles at the Mountain West Tennis Championships last week in Colorado Springs, Colo., while the Aztecs earned an at-large invitation. This is Boise State's 14th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, 11th for UNLV and 22nd for San Diego State.

First- and second-round competition will be conducted Friday-Sunday, May 10-12, for both the men and women. The winner at each site will advance to the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Tennis Championships at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex/Atkins Tennis Center in Urbana, Ill., hosted by the University of Illinois. The men's championship will be held May 16-21 and the women's will be conducted May 17-21.

At Barksdale Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn., Boise State (20-9) plays Clemson (18-7) at 11 a.m. ET on May 10, while host and seventh-seeded Tennessee (22-7) will play South Carolina State (14-4). The winners of the two first-round contests will meet the following day.

For the women, San Diego State (22-5) will take on Baylor (16-14) at 11 a.m. CT on May 10 at the Christie Tennis Center in Evanston, Ill. Host and 11th-seeded Northwestern (18-8) squares off with No. 53 Illinois-Chicago (16-5).

UNLV (19-7), ranked No. 65 in the nation, will head to Lincoln, Neb. and play No. 24 Tulsa (19-6) on May 10 in the opening round at the Nebraska Varsity Courts. The host and 15th-seeded Cornhuskers (22-5) will meet up with Wichita State (15-10).

The men's and women's singles and doubles competitions will be conducted May 22-27 at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex/Atkins Tennis Center, following the conclusion of the team championships.

On the women's side, the Mountain West's automatic qualification spot was filled by 35th-ranked Aleksandra Josifoska of UNLV. The 2012-13 MW Women's Tennis Player of the Year went undefeated in Conference play (7-0) and posted an overall record of 33-7. Josifoska's teammate, Lucia Batta, earned an at-large bid. Batta, the 2011-12 MW Player of the Year, was undefeated in MW play (8-0) this year and is 35-5 overall.

For the men, Boise State junior Andy Bettles earned the Conference's automatic qualification spot. The 36th-ranked Bettles received the 2012-13 MW Men's Tennis Player of the Year award and finished the regular season with a 32-9 record, 4-2 in MW action.
