Mountain West Announces Tennis Coaches of the Year

The Mountain West announced its 2011-12 Men's and Women's Tennis Coach of the Year award winners today as voted on by the league's head coaches. The MW Men's Coach of the Year award goes to Boise State's Greg Patton, while San Diego State's Peter Mattera was voted MW Women's Coach of the Year.
Patton, now in his 16th year at the helm of the Broncos, guided 38th-ranked Boise State to the 2012 MW men's regular-season title, the Mountain West tournament championship, and its 15th overall NCAA tournament appearance. The Broncos finished first in the MW regular-season standings with a perfect 5-0 record in league matches and enter the NCAA Championships with a 26-6 overall mark.
Mattera garnered his second MW Women's Coach of the Year accolade after leading the Aztecs to a 12-14 overall record and an 5-2 mark in Mountain West matches during the regular season. Now in his 19th season at San Diego State, Mattera guided the third-seeded Aztecs to a 4-1 victory over second-seeded and 48th-ranked UNLV in the semifinals of the 2012 MW Women's Tennis Championship. San Diego State fell to top-seeded and 32nd-ranked TCU, 4-2, in the tournament final.
