UNM to Host UNM Fall Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE, N. M. - Don’t be surprised to see a Lobo dress up as a tennis player this Wednesday for Halloween. The Lobos have to keep their game faces on this week as they get ready to host the UNM Fall Invitational at the Linda Estes Tennis Center from November 2-4, 2012. This year's tournament will feature UNM, University of South Carolina, University of Texas-El Paso, Western New Mexico, Northern Arizona, University of Utah, and Texas Tech.

There will be five draws for singles along with two draws for doubles.

Play is scheduled to start on Friday November 2, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.

The Lobos in Fall Action:

Michaela Bezdickova advanced to the round of 16 falling to Boise State’s Sandy Vo in a close three set match with a score of 6-7, 6-4, 6-4. Bezdickova also advanced to the round of 32 at the ITA All-American Championships for pre-qualifying singles falling to University of Southern California’s Gabrielle DeSimone in a tough three set match with a score of 1-6, 6-1, 6-2.

At the New Mexico State Invitational, Kristin Eggleston advanced to the quarterfinals in the Crimson singles draw falling to UT-El Paso’s Martina Trierweiler with a score of 7-6, 6-1.

At the New Mexico State Invitational, Laura Richardson advanced to the semifinals in the White singles draw falling to the host school’s Annemieke Witte with a score of 6-1, 6-2.

The Lobos leading singles players for this fall are Michaela Bezdickova and Laura Richardson, who each have an overall singles record of 4-2.

The Lobos have one leading doubles teams so far. Katie Wookey and Sarah Mahboob Khan are leading with an overall doubles record of 3-1.
