Final Stats

LAS VEGAS ( - Despite a double-double from Daryn Glenn and 52 assists from Kinsey Caldwell, both of whom were named to the 2012 UNLV Invitational All-Tournament Team, the UNLV Rebels (1-2) suffered a 3-1 defeat to the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks (3-0) on Saturday night. By virtue of its perfect record, NAU was named the tournament champion, while UNLV finished second. The Lumberjacks claimed the match by set scores of 25-15, 27-25, 20-25, 25-15.

UNLV was out-hit by NAU - .187 to .357 - despite recording three more kills (59-56) off 21 more swings (150-129). The key difference in the teams' hitting efficiencies was errors; the Lumberjacks only had 10 to the Rebels' 31. The visitors from Flagstaff, Ariz., hit .250 or better in all four sets and topped out with an astonishing .533 clip (17-1-30) in the fourth and final frame. UNLV, on the other hand, had its best showing in the third, a .256 effort in a stanza they won. Excluding the third, the Rebels hit lower than .200 in the remainder of the sets.

Glenn, who notched her first double-double earlier in the day in a 3-0 sweep of The Citadel, combined 20 kills with 16 digs for the feat. She was joined in the double-double club by Stephanie Thelen and her 13 digs and career-high 11 kills. Overall, it was the seventh double-double for Glenn and the 11th for Thelen.

Caldwell delivered an assist on 52 of the Rebels' 59 kills, but fell one dig short of connecting on a double-double with nine defensive stops in defeat. She chipped in three kills to go along with her two assisted blocks.

Madeline Westman earned a spot on the all-tournament team with an 11-kill effort against NAU. Westman also contributed three assisted blocks and two digs.

NAU's Kelli Dallmann took home tournament MVP honors behind her 19 kills and five digs vs. the Scarlet & Gray. Dallman was joined by Sydney Kemper (six kills, four total blocks and two digs) and Janae Vander Ploeg (13 kills and eight digs) on the seven-person squad.

Kalee Kirby picked up a double-double for the Lumberjacks after dishing out 44 assists and stopping 11 Rebel attacks. Anna Gott led NAU in digs with 16.

CSU Bakersfield's Debora Araujo was the seventh member of the all-tournament team after her squad finished in third place with a 1-2 record. The Citadel was fourth after going winless in three matches.

UNLV returns to action next in the Nike Portland Invitational hosted by the University of Portland on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1. The Rebels open up action next Friday night with a 5:00 pm tilt with the Idaho State Bengals. They will conclude the tournament on Saturday with a pair of matches vs. Tennessee State (11:00 am) and Portland (7:30 pm).

Notes: Westman moved up UNLV's all-time assisted blocks chart after this weekend's action ... She ranks fifth overall in assisted blocks with 232, while still sitting fifth in total blocks (273) and seventh in solo blocks (42) ... Thelen's career assists improved to 1,274, which is good enough for the sixth most in program history.
