Holt and Lea'ea Strong, Nevada Falls at Utah Classic

SALT LAKE CITY – Dana Holt’s third double-double of the season and 10 kills from Tessa Lea’ea were not enough on Friday, as the University of Nevada volleyball team fell 3-1 (16-25, 28-26, 15-25, 23-25) to Utah Valley University in its first game at the Utah Classic.
The loss dropped the Wolf Pack to 1-9, while the Wolverines improved to 5-4.
Holt had 38 of Nevada’s 47 assists and 11 digs, chipping in with three kills and one assisted block as well. Lea’ea added one solo block and three assisted blocks to her team leading 10 kills, hitting .033 on 30 attacks.
Team hitting percentage stood out as Nevada’s downfall in sets No. 1 and No. 3. In the first set, the Pack had 10 kills on 35 attacks, committing 11 errors for a hitting percentage of -.029. In the third set, Nevada registered seven kills on 38 attacks and committed 10 errors for a hitting percentage of -.079. The Pack hit .069 for the match.
Nevada’s second match of the event will also come on Friday, as the Pack takes on the host Utah Utes at 6 p.m.
