LARAMIE, Wyo. ( - The UNLV volleyball team (16-10 overall, 8-5 Mountain West) dropped a 3-1 decision in its final regular season road match of the season to the Wyoming Cowgirls (19-10, 6-7 MW) on Saturday night in Laramie, Wyo. UNLV jumped out to a 1-0 lead for the 15th time this season, but lost its second bout after taking a one-seat lead. The Cowgirls won the match by set scores of 21-25, 25-13, 27-25, 25-10.

UNLV hit .104 in the match with its best showing occurring in the first set with a .277 hitting efficiency. The Rebels hit .103 or lower the remaining three sets, while throwing down 164 attacks and committing 33 errors. Wyoming, on the other hand, hit no less than .160 in any set, and it topped out at .542 in the fourth and final stanza. The Cowgirls attempted 154 attacks and threw down 54 to only 13 errors.

After each team claimed one set with ease for a 1-all tie, the third was one that went down to the wire. After seeing the score tied seven times and the lead change hand three times, the Rebels had a set-point opportunity at 24-23. Unfortunatley, the Cowgirls rattled off three straight points for the win. UW won the fourth to claim the match by a 3-1 margin.

"We let the match slip away tonight," said head coach Cindy Fredrick. "We had the third set in our hands, but a missed serve and three hitting errors were our demise."

Sekola Falemaka and Kinsey Caldwell recorded their 13 double-doubles of the year in the loss. Falemaka, who chipped in three assists and two blocks, threw down 13 kills to go along with 15 digs. Caldwell dished out a match-best 40 assists that coincided with 10 digs for her double-double. She also tallied four kills and one ace.

Madeline Westman also reached double figures in kills of UNLV with 11, while adding five digs.

The Rebels had four players notch double digits in digs with Allison Davies leading the quartet with 19. Besides the double figures amassed by Falemaka and Caldwell, Stephanie Thelen had 10 for the Rebels.

The Cowgirls got double-doubles from Jodi Purdy (15 kills/16digs), Calli Miller (12 kills/15 digs) and Rachel Keyes (24 assists/10digs). Whitney Smith trailed Keye's match-best assist tally by one with 23, while Becky Stewart equaled Purdy's dig showing with 16 of her own.

UNLV returns for good with three home matches to close out the 2012 regular season. The Rebels will play once next week - a 7:00 pm contest against Fresno State on Nov. 16.
