LARAMIE, Wyo. -

2013 Cowgirl volleyball signee Kaitlyn Edwards was recently named to the 2012 Volleyball Magazine/Mizuno Girls' High School All-America team. A 6-2 middle blocker from Playa del Ray, Calif., she was selected to the second team.

For Edwards, she adds the award to an already impressive resume. She was named Max Preps Division I First Team All-State and the I-AA southern Section Player of the Year while attending Marymount High School. Her team finished with an impressive 34-6 overall record and a 9-0 mark in league play in 2012. They would go 4-0 in the CIF Southern Section on their way to the CIF Division I California State Championship.

During her junior year, she was named to the Prepvolleyball All-American Team and in 2012 was selected as Prepvolleyball.com Senior Ace, which is given to Top 100 recruits. She led her team to three straight Sunshine League Championships with a combined record of 30-0 during that time. They were CIF Southern Section Champions in 2010 with a record of 34-6 and followed that up with a CIF Southern Section and CIF Southern California Championship in 2011. The team was also a CIF California State Finalist in that same year.
