LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The Wyoming Cowgirl Volleyball Team wrapped up their spring practices on Saturday, April 21, at the UNK Tournament in Kearney, Neb.

With a full squad competing, the team finished with a 4-2 mark overall. They went 1-1 against Kansas and Kansas State while earning a two match sweep over Creighton.

"We had a solid weekend overall," said head coach Carrie Yerty. "We had strong performances from Becky Stewart and Bridget Shanahan, along with Calli Miller who was consistent all day long. I'm pleased with how we ended the spring against some of the best competition. I'm really looking forward to the fall."

Wyoming competed in four tournaments over the spring season. They hosted one, while being on the road at Northern Colorado, CSU and UNK over the last several weeks.

The Cowgirls are scheduled to open up the 2012 season on Friday, Aug. 24, as they host the UniWyo Wyoming Invite. Fifth year head coach Carrie Yerty welcomes back all six starters, including two-time All-MW selection Jodi Purdy, nine total letterwinners, two redshirts and three newcomers.
