Collins-Parker Inks New Three-Year Contract

April 24, 2012

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - San Diego State Director of Athletics Jim Sterk has announced that Deitre Collins-Parker has signed a new contract to continue as the Aztecs' head baseball coach for the next three years.

Collins-Parker completed her third season at the helm of the SDSU program in 2011 after assuming the head coaching role for the 2009 campaign. During her time in charge of the program she has compiled a 49-32 (.605) record.

This past season she led the Aztecs (18-10 overall, 10-4 MW) to a second-place finish in the Mountain West, its best league standing since the 2002 campaign when it also finished second. SDSU's 18 wins last fall was its highest victory total since 2003 when it also won 18 matches while its season winning percentage of .643 was the program's best since 2002.

Over the past three seasons Collins-Parker has coached a total of four all-conference selections including two-time honoree middle blocker Andrea Hannasch, who also became the first Aztec to earn All-America accolades since 1988 when she was named to the honorable mention squad at the end of last season. Three of the squad's all-Mountain West selections return this fall including Hannasch, outside hitter Raegan Shelton and setter Johnna Fouch.

"I'm excited that I'll be able to continue building a great program here at San Diego State," commented Collins-Parker. "We made some good progress during our recently completed spring season and I'm looking forward to the fall. With the players we have returning along with our new additions I think we have a chance to compete for a conference championship."

San Diego State opens its 2012 season with the Aztec Challenge during the weekend of Aug. 24-25 and will face Delaware in its opener on Friday, Aug. 24, at 7:00 p.m. on Aztec Court in Peterson Gym.
