Silver and Blue Scrimmage Saturday

Aug. 16, 2012

RENO, Nev. – The University of Nevada volleyball team will begin the 2012 season with its annual Silver and Blue scrimmage on Saturday at 5 p.m. in the Virginia Street Gym.

“I’m excited to be able to show this year’s squad to our fans for the first time,” second-year head coach Ruth Lawanson said. “Our supporters are a big part of what we do, and we are going to need them all year.”

Admission and parking will be free to all fans. Parking will be provided on the fourth and fifth floor of the Brian J Whalen Garage. The structure is just north of the Virginia Street Gym.

This will be the first chance for all Wolf Pack volleyball fans to pick up the 2012 team poster as well as schedule cards for the upcoming year.

Nevada was 5-21 (2-12) in its last season in the Western Athletic Conference in 2011 and will begin its first season in the Mountain West in 2012. The Pack opens the regular season at the Fairfield Inn North Baylor Classic against Tulane on August 24. Its first home match will be September sixth against Cal State Fullerton and conference play will kick off on September 22, when San Diego State comes to Reno to meet Nevada.
