COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Wyoming (8-0) and San Diego State (5-0) picked up two wins each on Saturday in women's volleyball to remain undefeated on the season and earn their second tournament titles of the season. In other Mountain West action, New Mexico improved to 7-1 on the season and also earned its second tournament title of the season.

    Air Force Falls to Undefeated Northern Colorado

    Sept. 1, 2012 - The Air Force volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to unbeaten Northern Colorado on Saturday, Sept. 1, during its final match of the Hampton Inn and Suites Classic in Greeley, Colo. Junior Cami Richan led all players with 12 kills, but the Falcons fell in 23-25, 25-20, 7-25, 12-25 to the tournament host Bears. [READ MORE]

    Boise State Falls to St. Mary's; Defeats Morgan State in Straight Sets

    Sept. 1, 2012 - Boise State wrapped up the Sacramento State Invitational with a convincing straight set 25-15, 25-18, 25-20 victory over the Bears of Morgan State in Sacramento, Calif., Saturday night. The Broncos dominated the match hitting a season-high .340 percent against the Bears. Boise State was led by Liz Harden who recorded 12 kills and hit a season-high .393 percent, followed by Alyssa Gammel who had 11 kills and career-high hitting percentage of .450, both were named to the all-tournament team.     Aztec Volleyball Defeats Montana In Three Sets; Defeats Utah State To Win Aztec Challenge

    Sept. 1, 2012 - San Diego State got double-figure kill efforts from four players as it defeated Utah State, 3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 25-22, 25-18), Saturday night to claim the tournament title at the 2012 Holiday Inn Mission Valley Aztec Challenge. The victory gives the Aztecs a 5-0 start to their season, the first time they have opened with five victories since the 2001 campaign. [READ MORE]

    Rebels Tame The Tigers; Pilots Navigate Past Rebels In Five

    Sept. 1, 2012 - The UNLV Rebels (3-3) lost a heartbreaking five-set match to the Portland Pilots (4-3) by a final score of 3-2 in the finale of the Nike Portland Invitational played in the Chiles Center in Portland. UNLV rallied from a one-set deficit to claim a 2-1 advantage before the host Pilots rallied to win the fourth and fifth frames en route to the victory.     Cowgirls Stay Undefeated And Win Second-Consecutive Tournament

    Sept. 1, 2012 - The Wyoming Cowgirl volleyball team won its second-consecutive tournament with two victories on Saturday, in the UniWyo Cowgirl Classic. Wyoming won the tournament downing Florida Gulf Coast (4-3 overall) and UMKC (5-3 overall) in straight sets for its second-straight day of three-set wins. The Cowgirls advanced to 8-0 on the season, which is their second 8-0 start in three seasons. Earning Cowgirl Classic MVP honors was senior outside hitter Jodi Purdy, while junior setter Rachel Keyes and sophomore middle blocker Erin Kirby earned all-tournament honors. [READ MORE]
