Mountain West Names Women's Volleyball Player of the Week - September 3, 2012

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - New Mexico middle blocker/right-side hitter Chantale Riddle has earned Mountain West Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honors for matches played from Aug. 27-Sept. 2, 2012. It is the first weekly honor of her career.

Riddle, a 6-0 sophomore from Roswell, N.M., led the Lobos to a 4-0 record last week on their way to winning the Savannah State Tiger Invitational. UNM beat UNC Asheville (3-0), Maryland Eastern Shore (3-1), Kennesaw State (3-0) and Savannah State (3-0) to earn its second tournament title in two weeks. Against UNCA, Riddle recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs. She followed up with her second double-digit kill performance (20) and four blocks against UMES. Against KSU, Riddle scored a career-high three service aces to go along with nine kills and eight digs. In the tournament finale against host SSU, Riddle played just one set, recording six kills in seven attempts (.857 attack percentage), a service ace, four digs and two blocks.

For the week, Riddle averaged 4.45 kills, 2.55 digs and 0.91 blocks per set, while hitting .370. She averaged 5.27 points per set over 11 total sets.
