COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - New Mexico right-side hitter Chantale Riddle has earned Mountain West Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honors for matches played from Aug. 27-Sept. 2, 2012. It is the first weekly honor of her career.

Riddle, a 6-0 sophomore from Roswell, N.M., led the Lobos to a 4-0 record last week on their way to winning the Savannah State Tiger Invitational. UNM beat UNC Asheville (3-0), Maryland Eastern Shore (3-1), Kennesaw State (3-0) and Savannah State (3-0) to earn its second tournament title in two weeks.

Riddle began the tournament with a double-double performance in the Lobos' win over UNC Asheville, recording 14 kills and 10 digs. She also had two blocks in Friday morning's match. On Friday evening against Maryland-Eastern Shore Riddle had another double-digit kill performance, recording 20, while adding six digs and four blocks.

Against KSU, Riddle scored a career-high three service aces to go along with nine kills and eight digs. In the tournament finale against host SSU, Riddle played just one set, recording six kills in seven attempts (.857 attack percentage), a service ace, four digs and two blocks.

For the week, Riddle averaged 4.45 kills, 2.55 digs and 0.91 blocks per set, while hitting .370. She averaged 5.27 points per set over 11 total sets.

The Lobos return to Albuquerque for the Sheraton Airport/Comcast Lobo Invitational, Sept. 7-8. New Mexico opens its second home invitational against Georgia Southern at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. UNM plays Portland at 1 p.m. on Saturday before closing the weekend with a match against UC Santa Barbara at 7:30 p.m. that evening.
