SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Army is 3-3 on the year, although it will face Marist on Wednesday night. The Black Knights are coming off of a 1-2 weekend at the TCU Nike Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas, defeating SMU in four and falling Texas A&M Corpus Christi and TCU. With a 2-5 overall mark, Navy went 1-3 last weekend, taking a four-set win over George Mason and falling to Niagara, West Virginia and South Carolina. Citadel lost all three matches last weekend, including a pair of five-set heartbreakers, to fall to 0-6 on the year.
Air Force is 9-1 all-time against Navy, having last swept the Midshipmen in 2011. The Falcons are 9-4 all-time against Army, despite having dropped their last three matches with the Black Knights. Air Force has only faced the Citadel one time in program history, as they defeated the Bulldogs 3-0 during the last all-military tournament at the Academy in 2005.
A LOOK AT THE CONFERENCE
Maiya Perich leads the Mountain West in digs-per-set with a 4.95 average, while the team is ranked second at 14.57. Cami Richan is ranked third in points (4.19) and fourth in kills (3.90), while Hillary Keltner is ranked fourth in assists-per-set with a 9.57 average.
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE
Hillary Keltner leads the Mountain West in double-doubles after amassing four in the first six matches.
FALCONS TAKE ONE FROM NORTHERN COLORADO
The 25-20 second-set victory over Northern Colorado on Sept. 1 marked just the third time since the two teams renewed their rivalry in 2004 that the Falcons have taken the Bears to extra sets.
PERICH BECOMES ALL-TIME D-I DIGS LEADER
With 25 digs against North Dakota State, Maiya Perich set a new Air Force Division I record for digs in a season. Bringing her career total to 929 at the conclusion of the match, Perich broke Brooke Effland's 1999 mark of 925. The record came just one match after Perich became just the second D-I Falcon to break the 900-dig mark. She is the first Air Force player since 2003 to impact the program's Division I record book.
WHAT'S ON DECK
Air Force opens its home slate on Thursday, Sept. 13, when it hosts instate rival Colorado at 7 p.m., at Falcon Court at East Gym. The contest, part of a seven-match homestand for the Falcons, is part of the annual Falcon Invitational, which includes matches on Friday (CSU Bakersfield, Norfolk State) and Saturday (Washington).
