Mountain West Women's Volleyball Weekly Release - September 11, 2012

Eight Mountain West women's volleyball teams will compete in regular season tournaments for the fourth week in a row, with Air Force (3-6) playing at home for the first time this season. Colorado State (7-3) will host defending national champion and No. 2-ranked UCLA in the Rams' lone match of the week on Saturday night at Moby Arena.

    • Colorado State received votes in this week's AVCA Top 25 poll.

    • CSU's Megan Plourde Named Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week ... Colorado State senior middle blocker Megan Plourde has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week for matches played from Sept. 3-9. Plourde is the eighth Mountain West player to earn the national honor and the first since 2007.

    • By The Numbers ...
    1,000 - Air Force senior Maiya Perich became the 21st Mountain West player to record 1,000 career digs during Saturday's match against Army. Perich has 1,025 digs to date. She is the first Falcon since 1995 to collect at least 1,000 digs.

    100 - New Mexico's Jeff Nelson earned his 100th win as the Lobo head coach on Sept. 7 with a 3-2 victory over Georgia Southern.

    59 - Fresno State setter Barbara Alcantara recorded a career-high 59 assists against Sacramento State on Friday night.

    10-1 - New Mexico is 10-1 to start the season, the program's best start since 1989. That season, UNM opened 12-1.
