Mountain West Announces Women's Volleyball Player of the Week - September 17, 2012

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Wyoming outside hitter Jodi Purdy has earned Mountain West Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honors for matches played from Sept. 10-16, 2012. It is the fourth weekly honor of her career and third year in a row the 5-11 senior from Winterset, Iowa, has earned the award.
Purdy led the Cowgirls to a 2-1 record and earned all-tournament honors at the Ball State Tournament last week in Muncie, Ind. Wyoming swept Wright State and Pittsburgh, 3-0, before losing to host Ball State, 3-1, in the championship match. Purdy recorded back-to-back double-double matches against Wright State (14 kills and 11 digs) and Pittsburgh (10 kills and 13 digs). She hit a season-high .407 (14-3-27) against WSU. Her 14 kills against Wright State and Ball State is also season-highs in three- and four-set matches, respectively. Purdy's 17.5 points against Ball State is a season-high for overall matches.
For the week, Purdy averaged 3.80 kills, 2.90 digs and 0.90 blocks per set, while hitting .315. She averaged 4.70 points per set over 10 total sets.
