Oct. 29, 2012
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV volleyball's Kinsey Caldwell was named the Mountain West's Volleyball Player of the Week on Monday. Caldwell helped the Rebels to a 3-1 road victory at The Pit over New Mexico last Thursday night. The honor is the first for freshman setter from Waverly, Iowa.
In the win, Caldwell recorded her 11th double-double of the season when she combined 41 assists and 10 digs for the feat. She also chipped in five blocks (one solo), four kills and one ace.
She is the first Rebel to earn the weekly honor since fellow teammate Stephanie Thelen was tabbed on Sept. 26, 2011.
UNLV returns to action this week with a pair of 7:00 pm home matches at the Cox Pavilion. The Rebels open up play with a Thursday evening (Nov. 1) encounter with San Diego State followed by a Saturday night (Nov. 3) tussle with in-state rival Nevada, Reno. The UNR match has Governor's Series implications between the two schools. UNLV won the first match in Reno by a 3-2 score.
