Bulldogs Travel to Wyoming, Colorado State

FRESNO, Calif. -- Fresno State volleyball travels to Wyoming and Colorado State in its second to last conference road trip of the 2012 season. The Bulldogs face the Cowgirls on Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. and the Rams on Nov. 18 at noon.
Fresno State vs. Wyoming
The Bulldogs defeated the Cowgirls in five sets earlier in the season at the Save Mart Center. Wyoming won the first two sets and the 'Dogs came from behind winning three-straight sets for the victory. Wyoming leads the overall series 10-9, but the Bulldogs have won the past two meetings.
Scouting the Cowgirls
Wyoming is in seventh place in the MW standings with a conference record of 4-7 and an overall mark of 17-10. The Cowgirls have won four of their last six matches. Jodi Purdy leads with 3.4 kills per set and is hitting .228. She is also averaging 2.6 digs and 0.92 blocks per set. Erin Kirby leads the team with 1.6 blocks per set and libero Becky Stewart has 4.7 digs per set. Offensively, the Cowgirls have 12.3 kills per set and hitting .220. On the defensive side of the net, Wyoming has 14.3 digs and 3.2 blocks per set.
Fresno State vs. Colorado State
Fresno State beat the Rams in a thrilling five set match at the Save Mart Center. The Bulldogs won the first and third sets before winning the deciding set for the victory. The 'Dogs lead the overall series 8-5 and have won the last two meetings.
Scouting the Rams
Colorado State is currently tied for second place with UNLV with a conference mark of 8-3 and has an overall record of 15-7. The Rams offense is led by Dana Cranston and Megan Plourde. Cranston is averaging 3.5 kills per set and hitting .227, while Plourde has 2.8 kills per set and hitting .337. Libero Izzy Gaulia is collecting 4.3 digs per set and Plourde leads with 1.6 blocks. As a team, the Rams are averaging 13.1 kills, 14.4 digs and 2.9 blocks per set.
'Dogs Double Trouble
The Bulldogs have recorded a total of 32 double-double's in 2012. Korrin Wild leads the team with 13 double-doubles. Wild recorded five double-doubles in a span of six matches. Marissa Brand is right behind with 12 double-doubles in 2012. Barbara Alcantara added seven double-doubles of her own. All three recorded a double-double against Utah Valley and Wyoming.
Alcantara and Wild Among Nation's Best
Senior setter Barbara Alcantara and junior outside hitter Korrin Wild are in the top 25 in the nation in various statistical categories. Alcantara leads the league with 11.4 assists per set, which is 22nd in the country. She is 99 assists away from breaking into the Bulldogs top 10 season records. Wild has 44 service aces on the year and is averaging .44, which the best in the league and 14th in the nation. She is broke into the 'Dogs top 10 season records and is ninth in the record books.
Road Warriors in 2012
The Bulldogs played their first six matches of the 2012 season on the road and will play a total of 18 matches away from the Save Mart Center. The 'Dogs are 8-5 on the road and 4-2 in neutral territory. Fresno State's next road trip is Nov. 8-10 at Wyoming and Colorado State.
