LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV Rebels, who just completed their tour of the Mountain West, return to Las Vegas to begin a three-match home stand beginning with Friday night's outing against the Fresno State Bulldogs. UNLV and Fresno State will serve it up at 7:00 pm.
SCOUTING FRESNO STATE: The Fresno State Bulldogs, who are 16-12 overall, enter the week in fourth place in Mountain West standings with a 7-6 mark, and they trail UNLV by one game for third place. Fresno State carries a four-match losing streak into Friday night's match with the most recent loss occurring on Tuesday night against UC Irvine - a 3-0 defeat. Last week, the Bulldogs lost at Colorado State in four sets before they were swept by Wyoming. Prior to hosting UNLV on Oct. 19, the Bulldogs shared first place with the Rebels, but have since gone 2-4 in conference play and 3-5 overall.
The Bulldogs are led by Korrin Wild (365 kills and 50 aces), Barbara Alcantara (1,231 assists), Christina Lee (448 digs) and Maci Murdock (97 blocks).
FS leads the all-time series 4-3 dating back to the first meeting in 1996, when both were members of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). UNLV has won the last two bouts in the series, including a 3-1 victory in Fresno on Oct. 19. The Rebels own a 2-1 record against the Bulldogs in Las Vegas.
TIME CHANGE: Please note that the UNLV-Air Force match scheduled for Friday, Nov. 23 has been moved up to 4:00 pm. The contest was originally slated for a 7:00 pm first serve, but has since been pushed up by three hours.
