Three Mountain West Student-Athletes Earn 2014 AVCA All-America Honors
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Three Mountain West volleyball student-athletes were named to the 2014 American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America Team today. Mountain West Player of the Year Deedra Foss, a senior setter from Colorado State, was named to the AVCA All-America Third Team. Colorado State teammate Adrianna Culbert (Jr., OPP) and New Mexico’s Chantale Riddle (Sr., RS) received Honorable Mention.
Foss and Culbert are making their second consecutive appearance on the AVCA national honors list with Foss moving up to the Third Team from honorable mention. Foss becomes the 12th Ram to be named to the first, second or third team and is CSU’s first setter to earn the accolade. Culbert is the Rams’ 21st honorable mention selection. It is the eighth consecutive season that CSU has placed multiple players on the team.
It is the third season in a row that Riddle has received AVCA recognition, earning third team honors in 2013 and honorable mention in 2012. She is the first Lobo to be selected as an All-American three times and one of two Lobos to repeat as an AVCA honoree (Pauline Manser, 1990-91).
This marks the 11th consecutive season that the Mountain West has had three or more student-athletes recognized with All-America honors. Since 1999, MW student-athletes have garnered All-America status 65 times.
Foss will be recognized on Friday, December 19 at the AVCA All-America/Players of the Year Banquet in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
