Twelve MW Cross Country Teams Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Twelve Mountain West cross country teams and 11 student-athletes were named to the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic teams on Wednesday.
Seven women’s teams were among the 226 programs to garner All-Academic team honors, including: Boise State (3.49 GPA), Colorado State (3.45), Nevada (3.44), New Mexico (3.67), San José State (3.17), Utah State (3.52) and Wyoming (3.55).
On the men’s side, five MW teams out of 179 national programs were honored, featuring: Boise State (3.19), Colorado State (3.39), Fresno State (3.01), New Mexico (3.36) and Utah State (3.08).
Individually, 153 women and 91 men earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. Honorees must have compiled a GPA of at least 3.25 and finished in the top-25 finishers (or 10 percent) at regionals or as an All-American at nationals.
Garnering individual honors from MW institutions were: Andrew Rafla, Fr., Boise State; David Elliott, Sr., Boise State; Jefferson Abbey, R-So., Colorado State; Jerrell Mock, R-Fr., Colorado State; Ross Matheson, Sr., New Mexico; Eric Shellhorn, Sr., Utah State; Anna Burton, Jr., New Mexico; Nicola Hood, Sr., New Mexico; Alice Wright, R-Fr., New Mexico; Charlotte Arter, Sr., New Mexico and Holly Page, Sr., Wyoming.
