COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Two Mountain West baseball student-athletes were named to the 2015 Baseball America Preseason All-America Team today. Nevada senior Austin Byler was a First Team selection, while Fresno State junior Taylor Ward garnered Second Team honors. The Baseball America editorial staff surveys Major League Baseball scouting directors and national cross-checkers to vote on the team.

Byler, a first baseman, is one of four returning first team All-Mountain West players in the 2015 season. Byler hit .326 and led the MW in home runs with 14 last year. Byler turned down a minor league opportunity (ninth round pick in the 2014 MLB Draft by the Washington Nationals) to return to the Wolf Pack for his senior season. Byler was also named to the 2015 Louisville Slugger Preseason All-America Team.

Ward was a member of the All-MW second team in 2014. A catcher, Ward was a member of the 2014 USA Baseball Collegiate National team and hit .320 for the Bulldogs last season. He was also named to this season’s Louisville Slugger Preseason All-America Team.

The 2015 collegiate baseball season begins Friday, Feb. 13.
