LAS VEGAS - UNLV earned a three seed and will face second-seeded USC in the first round as the NCAA Women's Tennis Championship official bracket was released Tuesday.

The 2016 Mountain West Tournament Champion Rebels (24-1 overall), who won an automatic bid, will travel to Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu, Calif., to face the 20th-ranked Trojans (12-5), an at-large entry from the Pac-12 Conference, on Friday, May 13, starting at 10 a.m..

The following day, the winner of that match will take on the winner of Big Sky Conference champion Idaho and eighth-ranked host and West Coast Conference champion Pepperdine at 1 p.m.

Using a 64-team format, the women's first and second rounds are scheduled to be held at 16 different campus sites. The champions of the regionals advance to the NCAA Round of 16, which this year will be played starting May 20 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on The University of Tulsa campus. The singles and doubles portion of the tournament will take place May 25-30.

This marks UNLV's first NCAA trip since 2013 and 12th overall. Seven of those events took place in the state of California but this will be the first time the Rebels play in the postseason at Pepperdine.

"We are looking forward to playing in the NCAA tournament next week,” said 17th-year UNLV head coach Kevin Cory said. "It is always an honor to play in the tournament and we expect a great challenge from USC."

The UNLV men’s squad, which also won the Mountain West title, is also playing USC in its first round matchup in Los Angeles on the same day.
