UNLV's Finkelstein Finishes Ninth At WUG Championship
GENEVA, Switzerland (UNLVRebels.com) - Rising senior Dana Finkelstein finished ninth at the World University Golf Championship and sixth amongst all amateurs. The tournament was being played at the world-famous 18-hole, par-72 Severiano Ballesteros course, which is home to the Omega European Masters, and is sponsored by the International University Sports Federation.
"Dana played extremely well against some of the top collegiate players in the world," UNLV women's golf head coach Amy Bush-Herzer said. "Once again, she was an incredible representative for UNLV. I am very proud of her and excited she was able to have the opportunity to play for Team USA."
Finkelstein helped Team USA finish in second place finish and turned in a tournament score of 1-under-par 287 (72-71-71-73).
Hong Kong's Tiffany Chan won the 2nd hole of the playoff over Spain's Marta Sanz to capture individual medalist honors. The pair finished the tournament at 10-under 278.
The Americans turned in a score of 12-under 564 (144-143-139-138), four strokes behind Spain, which took home the team championship, at 16-under 560 (141-142-138-139).
Czech Republic finished third at 3-over 579 and Mexico and Hong Kong tied for fourth at 4-over 580 to round out the top five teams.
