LOGAN, Utah – Adding to her accolades for the week, Utah State senior goalkeeper Jeannie Woller has been named a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) College Player of the Week.
Each week, the NSCAA awards the top men's and women's player from each NCAA division. Woller was selected as the top Division I player for her performance last week.
Woller helped Utah State to a 2-0 road win at Utah in its only match of the week. Against the Utes, Woller tallied a career-best 13 saves, the most by an Aggie goalkeeper since 2008. Behind Woller’s defense, the Aggies earned their fifth shutout of the season in the team’s first-ever win at Ute Field.
For her efforts, Woller was also named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week and the USU America First Credit Union Student-Athlete of the Week. This is the first time in Utah State program history that an Aggie has earned the College Player of the Week award. This is also the first time this season that a Mountain West player has earned the recognition this season.
Utah State (5-3-1) opens Mountain West action this weekend, hosting New Mexico (2-5-0) on Friday, Sept. 25 at 4 p.m., while defending champion San Diego State (4-3-0) will visit Logan on Sunday, Sept. 27 for a 1 p.m. match.
