Utah State's Taryn Rose Named Senior CLASS Women's Soccer Award Candidate
LOGAN, Utah (UtahStateAggies.com) - Utah State soccer senior defender Taryn Rose was one of 60 NCAA® men’s and women’s soccer student-athletes who excel both on and off the field who were selected as candidates Thursday for the 2014 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate soccer.
The Aggie senior is the only player from the Beehive State to be a candidate, as well as the only member from the Mountain West.
Rose is one in a line of USU greats to be nominated for this award, including Lindsey Smart in 2009, Chandra Salmon-Christensen in 2011 and Natalie Norris in 2012.
The defender has started every match since her freshman season, which is currently at 69 straight. Rose is also tied for the team lead in goals with two in three matches this season. In the classroom, she earned academic All-Mountain West honors in 2013, along with academic All-Western Athletic Conference honors in 2011 and 2012.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have not able achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award honors the attributes of senior student-athletes in four areas: community, classroom, character and competition. The award program is designed exclusively for college seniors who are utilizing their complete athletic eligibility, remaining committed to their university and pursuing the many rewards a senior season can bring. Premier Sports Management manages the award.
The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2014 NCAA Men’s and Women’s College Cup® championships in December.
