Mountain West Announces 2013-14 Women's Tennis All-Conference Awards

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Mountain West announced its 2013-14 All-Conference team and individual awards for women's tennis this evening, as selected by the league's 11 head coaches.

San Diego State’s Laura Antonaña Iriarte was named MW Player of the Year. The senior, who is currently No. 44 in the ITA rankings, posted an overall record of 25-7 during the regular season at the No. 1 singles position, including a 4-1 mark in Conference play.

New Mexico’s Lizette Blankers and San José State’s Gaelle Rey shared MW Freshman of the Year honors. Blankers, who played primarily at No. 2 singles, finished the regular season with a 24-13 overall record and a 5-0 mark in league contests. Rey also played at No. 2 singles and registered an 18-12 overall record, 2-2 in the league.

Four players, New Mexico’s Michaela Bezdickova, UNLV’s Lucia Batta and Aleksandra Josifoska and Wyoming’s Veronica Popovici earned All-Conference honors for the fourth straight year.
