NEW ORLEANS For the second time in program history Colorado State women’s golf picked up a second team win in the season. The other occurrence came in the 2001-02 season. The Rams took home first place at the Tulane Classic shooting 882 for the tournament to edge Cal Poly by a stroke.

Three Colorado State golfers finished in the top 15 and another inside the top 25.

“I am so proud of this crew. This win was gritty, the course was tough, it was windy all week, it was wet and cold in the mornings and they just got out there and took care of business,” head coach Laura Cilek said. “It is really hard to win a college golf tournament of seventeen teams. They came out and showed just how good they are! It has been so much fun to watch and all the credit to them for putting in the hard work that it takes to win.”

CSU shot a 3-over, 291 in the final round making up the three strokes they trailed by entering Tuesday’s round.

Panchalika Arphamongkol earned the third top 5 finish of her career taking fourth place with a 1-over, 217. She shot a 1-over, 73 in the final round with three birdies.

Andrea Bergsdottir had the best round of the day for CSU. The fifth year golfer recorded a triple bogey on her second whole of the day and didn’t have another blemish on her scorecard with six birdies over the final 16 holes. She birdied her final two holes of the round to help push CSU over the top. Bergsdottir’s round propelled her into a tie for eighth, the fifth straight top 10 finish for her.

Freshman Kara Kaneshiro ended up a stroke behind Bergsdottir to tie for 11th. She shot a 4-over, 76 on Tuesday.

Pemika Arphamongkol was the final Ram in the top 25 tying for 24th.

Colorado State returns to the course for competition March 25-26 at the Fresno State Classic.
