COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San José State fifth-year player Kajsa Arwefjäll has been named the Mountain West Women’s Golfer of the Week, while Colorado State’s Kara Kaneshiro was tabbed the MW Women’s Golf Freshman of the Week.

The weekly honor is the sixth of Arwefjäll’s career. She has also earned one monthly honor in her career. Kaneshiro has earned weekly honors four times this season, as well as one monthly award.

GOLFER OF THE WEEK
KAJSA ARWEFJÄLL, SAN JOSÉ STATE
Fifth Year, Hollviken, Sweden/Sundsgymnasiet
• Tied for first at the Chevron Silverado Showdown at Silverado Country Club in Napa, California.
• Shot a 7-under-par 209 for her second collegiate win.
• Fired a season-best and tournament-best 6-under 66 in the second round, the second-best round of her SJSU career. Capped the tournament with a 2-under in the final round.
• Led the field in par-4 scoring at 6-under.
• Helped San José State to a fourth-place finish in the 16-team field, which included eight teams ranked in the top 25 nationally.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
KARA KANESHIRO, COLORADO STATE
Honolulu, Hawai‘i/Kalani HS
• Tied for 23rd at the Chattanooga Classic at Council Fire Golf Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
• Shot an 8-over-par 221, which included a final-round 2-under 69, for her sixth top-25 finish of the season.
• Helped Colorado State to a fourth-place finish in the 16-team field, which included 10 teams ranked in the top 100 and three in the top 50 nationally.
• Helped the Rams shoot an 8-under 276 in the final round, the second-best round of the tournament, to jump five spots in the team standings on the final day.
