COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Utah State senior Bodin Zarkovic was tabbed the Mountain West Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, while USU teammate Mohammad Alkotop was named the MW Men’s Freshman of the Week.

On the women’s side, New Mexico senior Katherine Jhang was selected as the MW Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, while Wyoming’s Jeselle Ante collected the MW Women’s Tennis Freshman of the Week nod.

 

MEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

BODIN ZARKOVIC, UTAH STATE

Senior, Belgrade, Serbia/Minnesota

  • Helped Utah State to a win over San Diego State with a combined 2-0 from the No. 2 doubles court and No. 1 singles court.
  • Win over the Aztecs helped the Aggies clinch a share of the MW regular-season title.
  • Won singles match in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
  • Claimed the doubles victory, 6-4.

 

MEN’S TENNIS FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

MOHAMMAD ALKOTOP, UTAH STATE

Amman, Jordan/Shukry Shasha HS

  • Helped Utah State to a victory over San Diego State, clinching a share of the MW regular-season title.
  • Won singles flight in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.

 

WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

KATHERINE JHANG, NEW MEXICO

Senior, Taichung, Taiwan/Idaho

  • Helped New Mexico to a victory over Air Force, helping the Lobos claim their first MW regular-season title.
  • In singles against the Falcons, logged a 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 come-from-behind win to give UNM the lead at 3-0.
  • At No. 1 doubles, won 6-3 to clinch the doubles point.

 

WOMEN’S TENNIS FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

JESELLE ANTE, WYOMING

Riverside, California/Riverside HS

  • Helped Wyoming to a 1-0 week with a 2-0 combined record at No. 3 doubles and No. 4 singles.
  • Won in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 against the Falcons, giving the Cowgirls a 2-1 lead.
  • Was the only doubles team to win their flight, 7-5.
